Women Who Create: Celebrating International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the inspiring women behind Z SUPPLY—the visionaries, the creators, and the storytellers who make it all happen. From the first sketch to the final campaign, their talent and passion shape every detail of our brand. Every stitch, every fit, every story told is a reflection of their artistry and heart. Today, we honor their creativity and impact on the brand, the community, and the women who wear Z SUPPLY.

Z SUPPLY wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible women who bring creativity, passion, and artistry to each part of the process. Their dedication shines through in every detail, crafting pieces that will inspire confidence in the women who wear them. This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to celebrate their talent, hard work, and lasting impact. 

We had the opportunity to sit down with members of the merchandising and design, production, and creative and marketing teams to hear how they approach their craft as women creating pieces of work for other women to love and enjoy.

KRISTY MICHAELS

MERCHANDISING & DESIGN

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

As a female designer, I recognize that women are not all built the same, yet we all strive for the same goal: to feel good. I believe that being comfortable in what you're wearing brings out confidence. I strive to design clothing that not only feels comfortable but compliments a woman's figure. Being a woman myself allows me to understand and relate to other females at different stages in their lives and to design products that are appropriate for each and every occasion.

Z SUPPLY places great importance on thoughtful craftsmanship in every step of the process. What do you love about what you do?

First and foremost, I love being able to work alongside so many amazingly talented individuals who each bring their own expertise to our process and ensure that we continue to create products thoughtfully with beautiful craftsmanship. From initial concepts at the beginning of a season to seeing the final product is hands down the most rewarding part of my role.

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

Working for a fashion brand that designs specifically for women, my perspective influences how I want to tell our brand’s story on social media. I focus on creating content that is not just aesthetically pleasing to our audience but also highlights the beauty of our designs, fabrication, and how they make women feel confident, comfortable, and empowered in their everyday lives. Through our social platforms, I want to build a community where women can find outfit inspirations from our posts and feel inspired. 

Z SUPPLY places great importance on thoughtful craftsmanship in every step of the process. What do you love about what you do?

I love that our brand is so elevated, and Z SUPPLY goes way beyond the products. From showcasing the textures and silhouettes that make our designs so special to highlighting the people who make it happen–that’s the content I want to highlight and feature. I want to make sure every post, caption, and social shoot I put together inspires, connects, and celebrates the effortless style that defines the brand.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of Z SUPPLY, from selecting materials to refining designs and creating pieces that feel timeless. How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach these details to ensure our products reflect our values?

I focus on creating content highlighting the details women care about when buying clothes–like our premium fabrics, comfort, and versatile designs that can be dressed up or down. As a woman, that’s what I look for and I know women value style that feels as good as it looks. I aim to showcase how our pieces offer both quality and comfort.

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

Being strong, extremely kind, and above all, humble are the keys to the woman I am today and the work I do every day.

I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work not only with my Z SUPPLY production team, but all the teams within our company. I love the kindness of everyone at Z SUPPLY.  I love every part of my job, from placing production orders to working with our factories, and producing and shipping the best quality products with the best costs and on-time delivery.

Z SUPPLY holds itself to the highest standards when it comes to quality, using the best materials and ensuring a great fit—paying attention to the details is one of our most important principles in producing quality products. 

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft? 

I work hand in hand with the design team throughout the development process. Because I am so close to the product, I can offer helpful insight on key fabrications that will make a woman feel good in what she’s wearing. Overall at Z SUPPLY, it’s all about creating a product that makes women feel joyful and confident. 

Z SUPPLY places great importance on thoughtful craftsmanship in every step of the process. What do you love about what you do? 

I love all aspects about my position, but working with the M&D team here at Z SUPPLY is of course my favorite. There is a strong sense of partnership, communication, and mutual support for one another in this department. We encourage a holistic environment full of creativity and lots of laughs.

 My approach to product is to always be mindful of the core values within Z SUPPLY: comfort, style, and timelessness. I always try my best to help develop products that make our Z SUPPLY customers feel empowered and proud to say “I’m wearing Z SUPPLY!” 

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

As a woman, I take a relational approach when photographing our products—considering how a fellow woman would view my photos and find them relatable, especially in her day-to-day life.

There are so many reasons I love what I do. Truly, something that feels special to me about being a photographer for Z SUPPLY, a female-led brand, is that I started behind a camera as a young girl and have been able to make that passion my day-to-day job.

At Z SUPPLY, we take pride in our essentials and emphasize comfort. As a woman myself, I find that I can capture our fabrics and products in a way that reflects how other women would be able to understand what they’re buying and the attention to detail. 

JEANNE IKUTA

MERCHANDISING & DESIGN

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

I grew up watching and helping my mother sew and mend clothes. The image of her sitting in front of a vintage Singer sewing machine is imprinted in my mind—an iconic memory in my life. She became my role model. From a young age, I played with garments, becoming familiar with fabrics and details. Looking back, I realize that those moments, techniques, and habits helped shape me into the technical designer I am today.

I love puzzles and the challenge of solving them. To me, it’s all about patience, consistency, and attention to detail—much like technical design. I enjoy analyzing every design at a detailed level, finding ways to make it as perfect as possible. There’s so much joy in seeing customers choose our brand, wear our carefully crafted garments, and find comfort, beauty, and confidence in them.

At Z SUPPLY, I feel at home. I can freely express myself, knowing I have strong teammates who support and guide me toward our goals. Teamwork is a key factor in the success of our brand, and I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside such strong, kind women. We work hard together, laugh together, overcome obstacles, and push to meet deadlines—side by side. That’s what makes our team strong, and that’s what makes Z SUPPLY, Z SUPPLY. With a spirit of “one for all and all for one,” we take pride in creating beautiful garments that bring comfort and confidence to women of all shapes and sizes.

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

I hadn’t really thought about this before, but I believe my creative perspective as a woman comes with a deep respect for women. When I capture a model or talent, I ensure it’s done in a tasteful and flattering way. Most women want to look sexy, confident, and beautiful, and there’s an art to capturing that in a way that feels both empowering and respectful.

I love taking a 360-degree approach to my creative process, where every detail matters. From concepting and assembling the right production team to capturing the shoot and refining the story in post-production, each step plays a crucial role in bringing the design’s intention to life.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of Z SUPPLY, from selecting materials to refining designs and creating pieces that feel timeless. How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach these details to ensure our products reflect our values?

I meticulously review every image from our campaigns, personally selecting each one to ensure they align with our brand's values and aesthetics. This involves narrowing down thousands of shots to a carefully curated selection that best represents our commitment to quality and thoughtful craftsmanship.

How has your perspective as a woman influenced the way you approach design, techniques, and aesthetics in your craft?

As a woman, I really understand the power of building emotional connections. Whether it’s organizing an event or building relationships with our customers and retail partners, I want people to feel that I genuinely care about their experience with Z SUPPLY. Creating meaningful experiences is important to me, and I want everyone who loves the brand to feel that.

I love that I can dream, be creative, and have a community of women supporting and cheering me on. I’m grateful that Z SUPPLY has given me the opportunity to express my creativity but also learn and grow from the strong and talented women around me every day. Everyone here is very detail-oriented, and their passion for their craftsmanship shows in everything they do. It’s inspiring. As women, we support one another and collaborate to bring our ideas to life.

Women are naturally detail-oriented, and no detail is too small. I believe many of us here at Z SUPPLY share this mindset. Every detail comes together to create a bigger picture that makes you feel something special. Whether it’s the clothes you wear or an event you attend, we create meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact. Every experience with Z SUPPLY is designed to make people feel valued, understood, and inspired. I think, as women, we truly understand the importance of that.
